The first in-season polls of the year landed Tuesday morning. North Pocono moved up. Berwick is still outside the statewide 10.

PennLive's Class 4A list, reprinted by the Scranton Times-Tribune, has North Pocono eighth. They were 10th in the preseason. Record 1-0 after Friday's 36-20 at Trojan Stadium. Cardinal O'Hara and General McLane entered the 10. Dallas is on the teams-to-watch line. Berwick is not in the 10 and not among the teams to watch.

The Times-Tribune's own Lackawanna Football Conference poll kept North Pocono at No. 1 for a 13th straight ranking. Last week: beat Berwick, 36-20. Next for the Trojans is Friday at Scranton.

The same Times-Tribune awards package named two Trojans from Friday. Jayden Taylor is defensive player of the week, six tackles and five for loss. Shane Youngblood is the special-teams pick, three extra points and a 47-yard field goal at the end of the first half. Those are the paper's awards from the opener.

A two-spot bump after a Week 1 win over a 4A newcomer is the kind of move these lists make. The Dawgs are 0-1. Conference play starts Friday at Pittston Area.
