Final at Trojan Stadium was North Pocono 36, Berwick 20. The Citizens' Voice and Times-Tribune posted the full recap Friday night, so the scorebug finally has names next to it.

The Trojans punched first. Berwick's opening kick sailed out of bounds, and Cole West (Cornell) took the re-kick 93 yards for a touchdown. Joe Briskie, back after missing most of last year's second half with an injury, ripped a 37-yarder on his first carry and scored from six. North Pocono led 14-0 before the first quarter was gone.

The second quarter kept going the wrong way. Jayden Taylor capped an 80-yard drive from a yard out, then Mikey Hatala tipped and intercepted a pass, fumbled into the end zone, and Henry Wolff fell on it for another Trojan touchdown. Shane Youngblood hit a 47-yard field goal. Halftime: 30-0. Berwick had 63 yards on 23 plays in those first 24 minutes.

Then the Dawgs showed up. Cramping emptied parts of the North Pocono lineup in the third, including West. Sophomore Brayden Cleaver threw a 78-yard touchdown to his brother Bryce, ran for a 76-yard score in the fourth, and finished with 217 passing and 145 rushing. Gavin Galutia punched in from six. With 4:44 left it was 30-20.

North Pocono got Briskie and West back. Briskie slammed the door with a 20-yard run and a 2-yard touchdown at 1:28. He finished with 149 yards on 18 carries and two scores. Taylor had six tackles and five for loss on the other side of the ball.

A second-half surge on the road against the defending District 2 Class 4A champion is real. Starting down 30 is also real. Season is 0-1. Conference play opens Friday at Pittston Area. The Patriots lost their opener 50-32 at East Stroudsburg South.

The Times Leader has a Wyoming Valley roundup of the same 36-20. PA Football News posted a full Saturday recap, and NEPA Football filled in quarters on its event page.
