Conference play starts Friday at Charley Trippi Stadium. Berwick is 0-1. Pittston Area is 0-1. Last year those were the two Wyoming Valley Conference division champions.

Tom Robinson's Sunday Dispatch recap from the Patriots' opener is the first real look at them this fall. East Stroudsburg South won 50-32 on the road. Pittston Area scored first, then spent the night chasing. The Dispatch had them down 30-12 in the second quarter, within 37-32 late in the third, and out of answers after two more Cavalier touchdowns in the fourth. Coach Paul Russick told the paper they lost their momentum late in the third.

The Dispatch box is Santino Capitano and Lucas LoPresto. Capitano ran 15 times for 148 yards, completed 7 of 12 for 84, and scored twice on the ground. LoPresto caught a 46-yard touchdown from him, returned a fumble 51 yards for another, and threw a touchdown to Deondre Miller. Chance Radzewicz led the Patriots' defense in that write-up with five tackles, two for loss, and four assists. Pittston Area was flagged 11 times. Those are the paper's numbers, not a program depth chart.

The Citizens' Voice Gameface package, David Mika's EasternPAFootball preview, and Willie McGonigle's PA Football News team preview fill in the rest of the Patriots as they were drawn in camp. Russick is in Year 2. The Voice lists LoPresto as the all-state returner who can line up almost anywhere, and Capitano as the quarterback with the inside track after last year's senior class left. EasternPAFootball has Pittston Area at 8-3 a year ago, a WVC Division 1 title, and a 7-6 loss to Delaware Valley in the District 2 Class 5A semis. PFN's July list of returning starters is LoPresto, John Jadus, Jude Ferentino, Chance Radzewicz, Dom Salvo, and Deondre Miller — that's their card, not ours. The line is the question those previews keep coming back to.

Berwick's opener is already on the tape. North Pocono 36, Berwick 20. Brayden Cleaver finished with 217 passing and 145 rushing after a 30-0 hole. The second half on the road was real. Starting down 30 was also real. Season is still 0-1.

They are still in different divisions after realignment. Pittston Area is Division 1. Berwick is Division 2, now the middle group in a three-division WVC. Friday is still the first conference snap for both. Kick is 7 at Charley Trippi. Doyle and Ulicny stay on GOAT Rocks. NEPA Football has the event page marked Listen. No public television listing for this one yet.

The school YouTube also posted the North Pocono tape: the Friday Night Rivals copy, the radio call as audio-only, and North Pocono Athletics' house stream. Times-Tribune put up a short video from Trojan Stadium. All of that is on Highlights.
