The home opener finally has a write-up next to the final.
Tom Robinson’s Times Leader recap has Brayden Cleaver for three rushing touchdowns and a touchdown pass in Berwick’s 39-0 win over Wyoming Area at Crispin Field. Gavin Galutia opened the scoring with a 12-yard run late in the first. Brock Simms punched in from a yard early in the second. Cleaver swept for four and later twelve before the half, then added a four-yard run in the third and hit Gabe Decker from nine with 3:43 left in the quarter to put the running clock on.
The defense was the other headline. The Times Leader has Wyoming Area at 56 yards of total offense. Berwick outrushed the Warriors 163-26 in the first half. Galutia finished with 65 yards on 10 carries before limping off in the second quarter; he stayed in uniform on the sideline and did not return. Cleaver carried eight times for 72.
MaxPreps now has a real box next to the final: Berwick 7-19-13-0, Wyoming Area 0-0-0-0. The team board shows 18 first downs to 5 and 26:25 of possession to 19:35. A public YouTube stream from George Zapata covers the night end to end, and the Berwick Football channel posted an audio-only copy of the call.
Berwick is 2-1 and 2-0 in conference games after the Crispin shutout. Next Friday is Wilkes-Barre Area, still at home.
